64 bit Flashplayer

At long last there is a 64 bit flashplayer plugin. For now, in its early alpha state, it's only available for Linux but future Mac and Windows versions are promised. The download is available from Adobe Labs.

Once again I'm lured into the quagmire world of memes by Kyrre. For someone who doesn't do memes, this blog is headed down the road of "nothing but" .

Just one word

Happy new year and all that. I don't usually do memes, but when Kyrre asks something of me, and he sort of did, I tend to do it. I tend to be nice like that.

The meme is to be answered with one word and I'll be kind enough to translate it, as English appears to be the language I use here.

A new year

And so we're once again at the start of a whole new year. Hurra! So far it looks pretty much like the last one but that's probably due to the warm weather. It's not supposed to be 7 degrees Celcius in January.

So far it appears 2007 will keep me rather busy, with three projects already under way, and a couple more on the horizon.

Katapult

A while back Amarok suddenly stored URLs in a different way than before. This opened the door for dynamic collections in Amarok but it also all but killed Katapult, the friendly KDE application launcher. Well, it didn't kill but Katapult couldn't launch songs in Amarok anymore. To be able to hit <kbd>alt</kbd> + <kbd>space</kbd> and start typing the title of a song before hitting <kbd>return</kbd> when Katapult finds it should be a developer's right. Or something like that anyway ...

The way this is heading, this blog will belong to my nephew before long, for it seems he is mentioned in more and more of the still few entries here. So, what did he do this time? He got tickets for the Satyricon concert at Rockefeller last Saturday (13th of May)! Neither him nor I were aware of this concert until he, through some chance of fate, got his hands on the tickets an hour or so before the venue opened it's doors.

Update to Opera Widgets

I wrote earlier that I couldn't get Widgets to work in Opera 9 Beta on my 64bit Kubuntu Dapper Drake box. There is a solution, and the solution is great! Not only did it make Opera Widgets work for me, it also removed the annoying background fading when they were employed. Starting Opera with the following command will remove the fade effect and, at least for me, make the widgets work:

opera -overlay no

Black Box revisited

Since my last post about Black Box, nVidia has released a new driver. Hurra! This of course did lead to a bit of trouble with the previous, non-nVidia driver but with a lot of help from Yrjan when the computer froze on this end, it all worked out in the end.
